Dear Colleagues

I am sure you are aware of the great burden that dementia causes and the Government drive for early diagnosis, but more importantly for all NHS staff to understand the issues and how to help patients with dementia.

We have been fortunate to acquire some resources for staff training which can be accessed by your Registrars or GP Trainers,  this is an open access course which you are welcome to use and share with all of your practice staff. Though all the content is relevant we draw your attention to the section entitled ‘University Of Nottingham - Toolkit.’ This on line training covers all three levels of dementia awareness and the correct level can be chosen for the needs of your individual staff.

Health Education East Midlands are providing this as part of their role in spreading awareness amongst the East Midlands Healthcare Workforce so that wherever and whenever patients with dementia and their families have contact with the NHS, they can be assured that the staff caring for them can do so in a compassionate way that meets their needs.

We may contact you again in the future to facilitate access to any other resources which become available and which might help you and your staff.

Please use this link to access the course or forward on to others:

Many thanks for your help and I hope you find this useful.

Best wishes

Dr Helen Mead
