Nottingham Med Chi Society
For a diary of events and meetings please see attached.
Nottingham is very lucky to have a thriving medical society. It is well supported by more than 750 members, but many newly appointed Consultants and SASGs are perhaps unaware of its existence. It is one of the oldest Medical Societies in the country, established in 1828, originally to cultivate and promote Medicine and Surgery in Nottingham. Today there are many other Educational opportunities for us, but the evening lectures provided by the Society are of a high quality, and of broad general interest. CPD certificates are provided for attendence.
All the previous lectures are available as podcasts, and a full programme of these and future lectures are available on the website www.medchi.org.uk
The Med Chi also organises a full social programme, including an Annual Charity Fundraising Ball each May, a University Challenge Quiz, Musical and Golf events, again dates and details are on the website.
Each year the society also awards bursaries to students, a range of prizes, and over £5000 to local charities.
Dr Nigel Sparrow is the current President.
All permanent medical staff in Nottinghamshire are welcome to join, and 2012 is our membership promotion year, so free to join until Jan 2013, then £40 annually thereafter. The price for SASG and junior doctors is £20/year.
Do join us as a new member by completing the Nomination Form on the website.
We look forward to welcoming you.
